Knox grew up in Seattle, to attend a Jesuit private high school before going to the University of Washington.
Friends of Amanda Knox formed shortly after was arrested for murder in 2007. In Italy, nine hours in front of Seattle, the group rented a suite and waited all night to the court's decision.
Friends of Amanda is composed of parents of their school mates, friends, college and high school, and supporters around the country. Some never met the young woman from Seattle, including Rochelle, who joined the group two years ago after learning that Knox in the news.

Kellan Henry is friends with Edda Mella, Knox's mother, and visited family in Italy.
"This is the first night in four years (Edda) know his daughter is safe," said Henry, holding crumpled tissues in his hand. "It was an idea really overwhelming for me."
Some of the people gathered to Knox wore T-shirts that read "Free Amanda and Raffaele." The photographs of Knox, Sollecito and Kercher, lit by candles were created in the future.
